1. Download the ZIP archive file for
the operation system you are running. Choose
between Windows
and UNIX-based systems (BSD, Linux, etc.).
2. Unzip the archive in a directory that is visible through web
- i.e. a directory
where you put your web pages. Such a directory
could be C:\Inetpub\wwwroot
(Windows) and /home/user/www (UNIX).
If you do not have shell or desktop access on the server you
want the script
intalled, unzip the archive to a temporary directory
and then upload it to your
web space (using an FTP Client software
for example).
3. Make sure you have the right permissions for accessing the
directory
containing your script distribution, the setup directory
in it, and the
setup.cgi script inside the setup directory. For
example, Unix users
should set the permissions to 755 (read,
write, execute by owner,
only execute by others).
4. With your browser, navigate to the setup.cgi file that appears
in the
setup directory contained in your script directory. If
you have unzipped
the archive in your web root directory, you
could access this file at
URL similar to: www.yourdomain.com/ScriptDir/setup/setup.cgi
5. Follow the instructions in the setup.cgi that will configure
your
script, after which you will be able to use it. |
